11 February, 2026

The activities of “Kuwait, Arab Capital of Culture and Media for 2025” concluded with an official ceremony held at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre under the high patronage of His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The ceremony witnessed broad Arab participation at the level of Ministers of Culture, in addition to representatives of the League of Arab States, particularly the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO). A delegation from the Republic of Djibouti also took part, representing the Ministry of Youth and Culture.

These events aim to highlight the distinctiveness of Arab capitals and strengthen their media presence, as well as encourage the exchange of programs and expertise and the sharing of experiences among media institutions. This contributes to developing media practice in the digital space, improving professional performance, modernizing legislative frameworks, and enhancing technological empowerment.

At the end of the ceremony, Benghazi was announced as the Arab Capital of Culture for 2026.
